The following research was carried out in the field of mechanical structural engineering specifically in the design and calculation of metal connections, this design is currently performed analytically estimating many parameters of the connection (loads, material behavior), when performing calculations by Finite elements such parameters are obtained with precision, the CBFEM validated method is based on the use of FEM and the Component Method being the latter method for the analysis of 2D connections. The work consists in the use of the software used by the CBFEM called IDEA Statica in the analysis of different types of connections. The work is of descriptive level by collecting manually analyzed connections to compare the results with the calculations made of the same connections analyzed with the software, in addition it is evaluated if the method is economical for a connection by reducing the amount of material without failing to fail some element and the benefits of the interoperability that the software has with the software TEKLA Structures and Robot Structural. The results prove that the CBFEM method is versatile for the analysis of metal connections using American regulations, obtaining precise results in a simple way with the ability to avoid oversizing, as well as the import of CAD and CAE software connections, supporting the calculation, avoiding the redesign of the connection.
