The panorama for the industries that produce ceramics in our country radically changed the last decade, imports from countries such as China, Spain and Brazil had a constant annual growth, greatly exceeding to national exports, because the cost isn’t proportional to national production quality; however they still have an important presence in the internal demand for construction finishes. For this industry to gain more space in the national and international market, they must improve the quality of their products and achieve competitive costs compared to foreign ceramics. Given this, companies must bet on continuous improvement, with maintenance management as one of the main pillars. Before this, companies must bet on continuous improvement, in this thesis it is proposed to improve the indicators of the production ÁREA by renewing the maintenance system, focusing the study on the critical ÁREAs of the production process and ending with the economic projection of the expected savings. This evaluation was complemented by an analysis of the improvements in the maintenance system as an investment project, calculating the return on investment for a period of one year after the improvements were implemented. The projection of expected production indicators was compared with the actual projection of the plant and an obvious improvement in them was noted. Additionally, the expected behavior for savings due to losses in the production process is presented.
