The intermittency of renewable energies continues to be a limitation for its more widespread application, since its large-scale storage is not yet practical. The technology of solar concentration (CSP) has the possibility of thermally storing this energy to be used in times of higher demand at a more feasible storage price. Concentrated solar energy projects have grown rapidly in recent years due to advances in concentrated solar technology. The problems associated with the high investment costs can be solved by integrating the solar potential in the fossil fuel generation plants. Two technologies of solar concentration (CSP): (I) Parabolic Cylinder (PTC) and (II) Solar Tower (ST), have been integrated into a combined cycle of three pressure levels and have subsequently been modeled, simulated and compared. The calculations under conditions of design and off design have been made taking into account for the latter the ambient temperature and direct solar radiation (DNI) of the meteorological station of La Joya, Arequipa, Peru. With 8760 simulations that constitute the hours of a year, it has been possible to compare the performance of the different proposed configurations. In addition, an economic analysis has been carried out taking into account the performance for each of these. The results show that it is not necessarily necessary to inject energy at high temperatures to have a higher plant performance. Introducing the mass flow of steam at the outlet of the evaporator is slightly more efficient than introducing it at temperatures higher than that of the evaporator in the configuration studied in the present work. Thus, the configuration where the mass flow is introduced at the outlet of the evaporator generates 0.42% more energy than that which is introduced at higher temperatures under design point conditions. While in off design conditions this value is reduced to 0.37%. Months with higher values of DNI and months with lower average environmental temperatures are not necessarily what generate more power, rather a balance between both variables make a point of higher generation. Without considering environmental costs, the configuration without solar collectors is the most economically viable being PTC technology that follows and finally ST.
