The purpose of the research was to calculate the Carbon Footprint of the School of Environmental Engineering of the National University of Engineering Lima-Peru in order to establish the contribution of the Faculty to CO2 emissions in the academic period 2018 - 1 and identify their contribution at the local and national level, from which reduction measures were proposed for the factors that contribute to the Carbon Footprint. The calculation was based on the principles and procedures of the Protocol for Greenhouse Gases (GHG Protocol) according to the scope established in that document to determine direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions (Scope 2) and other indirect emissions (Scope 3). The information was obtained from sources such as: reports from the Faculty of paper consumption, number of students, teachers, administrative and support staff, consumption of natural gas, water consumption, solid waste produced and electricity expenditure in the sub-station of the Faculty; surveys made to a representative sample of students, teachers, administrative and support staff to obtain mobility data such as types of transport used, travel time and frequency of assistance to the FIA - UNI. The calculations were made for each scope and for each emission source, using emission factors obtained from national and international bibliographic sources, taking those applicable to the conditions of the research and the study area. The sources of emission were identified: the consumption of electrical energy, the consumption of paper, the solid waste generated and the emission by mobility of students, teachers, administrative and support staff. The largest contribution was from mobile sources with 49.80%, followed by solid waste with 38.24%, within which are organic waste that due to its generation of methane (CH4) in a landfill represent 37.02% of the total emissions and, finally, electricity consumption with 11.96%. In the analysis by scopes, the other indirect emissions (scope 3) represented the largest contribution with 88.04%, followed by indirect emissions due to electricity consumption (scope 2) with 11.96%. No contribution of direct emissions was detected, so scope 1 was discarded. The calculated emissions represented 0.001% of the estimated emissions of the city of Lima and 0.00007% of the total of Peru. In numerical terms, it was estimated that the Carbon Footprint of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering of the National University o Engineering was 168.74 tCO2eq for the academic period 2018-1 and that the emission per capita was 0.15 tCO2eq/person. Finally, recommendations were made on the efficient use of electric energy by mean of measurements of consumption of the equipment using electricity, the change of fuel to NGV and a management of solid waste generated in the FIA-UNI in order to use them in a sustainable way.
