The methodology used to maintenance study is increasingly researched and applied as an alternative to the management of the preventive maintenance program due to its prediction of faults and their reduction, being significant in the economy that it represents. In the Peruvian industry it is not the exception of having alternatives based on studies that contribute to the best use of resources and guarantee the correct functioning of the machines and equipment with the respective preventive maintenance. The research under study is framed in the proposal of a mathematical model for RBI risk-based inspection that allows to study the components of the Rolling Mill to anticipate the failures and formulate a correct program of preventive maintenance. Therefore, we use an optimization methodology where our objective function is based on the minimization of maintenance costs with the analysis of a rolling mill maintenance program, as a case study. The present study is considered a contribution to the development of Maintenance and / or a contribution to the knowledge of maintenance management
