This research thesis, makes an evaluation and comparison between the main parameters that are involved both in the bioscrubber's design and operation for the conversion of one of the most harmful components of the odorous gases, hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Physicochemical parameters monitored daily were the pH, DO (dissolved oxygen), temperature and potential Rédox. Once a week, sulphate production (SO -2) was analyzed, and for 14 days the concentration of hydrogen sulphide was measured on gas inlet and outlet, to determine the bioscrubber's efficiency. The bioscrubber (built with PVC pipe) was operated for 24 weeks to treat the flow of biogas emitted by the gas collector of the UASB Reactor. The biological medium used was the effluent from the facultative lagoon of the WWTP, which produced the biological oxidation through the reactions with chemotrophic and photoautotrophic bacteria. In this way, we can carry out the conversion of hydrogen sulfide. The biogas distribution inside the bioscrubber was carried out in three stages: the first was research with 1 diffuser, the second with 2 diffusers and the third with 3 thin bubble diffusers. In this way, it was also possible to make a comparison between these three stages and determine the conversion efficiencies of hydrogen sulfide in each case. The effluent from the facultative lagoon that was used as a biological contact medium in the bioscrubber, was placed up to a height of 0.80m, obtaining retention times of 4.74s, 9.48s and 14.22s, and at 1.60m it obtained retention times of 9.48s, 18.96s and 37.92s with one, two and three thin bubble diffusers respectively in both cases. The efficiencies of conversion of the hydrogen sulfide obtained by the bioscrubber were between 99.38% and 100%, together with it was also carried out a monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2) removal in which conversion efficiencies were obtained between 25% and 62.5%, both were performed daily for 17 days. The effluent of the treatment in the bioscrubber was discharged to the sewage, complying the environmental laws in Peru.
