The objective of this research work is determine the deterioration of simple concrete and the reinforcement concrete with Portland Type I cement by attack of Ferric Chloride in 42% solution because many concrete structures, such as tanks, are exposed to this chemical by be used as part of the water purification treatment. In order to know the deterioration, It was used pieces of size 4 "x8" of simple concrete and reinforced concrete (with a Corrugated steel rod of 10 centimeters of length into the center) of relation a / c = 0.45, 0.50, 0.60 and 0.70 and corrugated steel rods were used of 3/8 " of diameter that were subjected to accelerated corrosion by the process described in the thesis of Eng. José Luis Díaz Lazo entitled "Corrosion of cement by attack of sulphates." After completing the accelerated corrosion test, we proceeded all of the data to identify the weight variations of the test specimens with respect to the standard specimens; the values of the mechanical, physical and chemical properties of the specimens with respect to the standard specimens, with the purpose to know the deterioration of concrete. Finally, this research work can be used as a guide for builders who are working on structures exposed to Ferric Chloride in 42% solution, also it can be used as a guide for researchers who wish to deepen their knowledge and determine the deterioration or corrosion of the concrete exposed to this chemical.
