The following thesis seeks to compare different types of layout for the installation of viscous heat sinks, and so finding which one is the most effective. The effectiveness is measured based on the drift monitoring of the structure, damping coefficients, exponents speed, forces in devices and quantity of these. For this, we have evaluated the Diagonal layout, Chevron, with 01 and 02 devices and Toggle Brace in their Lower and Upper settings on a four-level portal frame building, located in the Peruvian coast, supported on a floor burdensome and designed for offices. Firstly, it was placed at the diagonal disposition and a distortion less than the regulatory one was established as a base; all the dispositions were taken to this distortion and answers were compared. As a second test, the same damping coefficients C and exponents of α-speed were considered and tested to all the layouts and the responses were compared. Based on the responses obtained for each layout, it was determined that the Toggle Brace Upper is actually the most efficient. Finally, this layout has been applied to reinforce the Universal building of the Ministry of Economy and Finance which has been reinforced in the offices of Cordova Engineers S.A.C with Double Chevron layout; that reinforcement has been compared in terms of the structural response, number of devices, damping coefficients, added damping, device strength, and percentage share of energy dissipation, resulting once again better results for Toggle Upper Brace layout.
