The electrode E 11018 M is an electrode of military quality, that must comply with the requirements of higher level than those of G quality (general). Study an appropriate formulation for covering and obtaining a deposit that matches the requirements for elongation as well (20% min.), high strength values at low temperatures (27J at -50°C min.). Six different coating compositions in accordance with the standard AWS 5.5 /5.5 M E 11018 M(E 7618 M) were prepared. The Carbon, Manganese, Cooper and Nickel increase as well as the ratio C /Mn increase enhanced the tensile strength and improved the Charpy V Notched results even below to -75 oC
