A risky behavior, unsafe act, substandard or risky behavior, etc. Let us call it in any way since in different mining companies takes different names or terms but has only one purpose, and is to cause accidents, unrecoverable family losses, and economic losses for the company. While it is true that mining is a major contributor to the Peruvian economy, it is also well known that the mining sector is classified as one of the most risky activities, as evidenced by the Ministry of Energy and Mines annually reports fatal accidents. Every mining company makes efforts to reduce the accident rate, which is why they manage safety with international standards or create their own safety management system, in short. In recent years the tendency to manage risks has changed vision, it is not enough to apply the hierarchy of controls to avoid accidents. Logically, this does not mean that the traditional does not serve, but rather is working under its principies of the Behavior-Based Security (SBC) trilogy; THE POWER AND THE KNOWLEDGE. Managing the risks applying the SBC methodology will help to modify the behaviors of the workers, therefore we would be working on EL QUERER. In this sense managing the risks in both ways will strengthen the (PSST) SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK PROGRAM that can be implemented. The mining company opted to apply the SBC methodology to contribute to the strengthening of the PSST and in this way to fulfill the objectives and goals outlined during the year 2016. As for the critical activities that gave rise to these undesirable events, the objective was to avoid, reduce, minimize the risks associated with these activities and for that, within the PSST, exclusive activities were proposed for each critical activity. Applying the hierarchy of controls that the miner has and with the help of the SBC methodology, we could achieve these objectives. To develop the SBC methodology was diagnosed 6 CRITICAL ACTIVITIES, making observations in the field was drawn up a baseline of the percentage of safe and unsafe behaviors that workers did. First-line supervision was trained to be the field observers and at the same time perform feedback, positive reinforcement to the observed workers. During the year 2016 these observations were developed, month by month the results wereanalyzed in arder to identify which safe and insecure behaviors were being modified in each critica! activity. Statistical analyzes were published in the management toolkits to have a positive reinforcement, it is mentioned in the morning meetings and in the weekly safety stops the whole universe of workers of the Mining. Finally, we had expected results as it met the objectives of SMCSA and the research.
