Abstract: En las últimas décadas del siglo XX e inicios del siglo XXI numerosos puentes peatonales experimentaron desplazamientos excesivos en la dirección lateral,
causando en los peatones dificultades para cruzar el puente y muy frecuentemente requiriendo caras reparaciones. Esta investigación estudia el problema de las vibraciones laterales producidas por el cruce de peatones en
puentes peatonales a través de modelos matemáticos representativos usados en la literatura técnica, y su comparación con resultados reales de mediciones y
análisis de vibración lateral de la pasarela adyacente al puente peatonal “Rayitos de Sol” que cruza en rio Rímac cerca al centro de Lima. Este puente en particular
presentaba excesivas vibraciones laterales desde su construcción en 2006 hasta el momento que fue desarrollada esta tesis en 2016. Esta situación particular
constituyó un estado ideal para el desarrollo del trabajo experimental que es parte de esta tesis.
In the last decades of 20th century and beginning of 21st century numerous footbridges experienced excessive displacements in the lateral direction, causing the pedestrians, difficulties to cross over the footbridge and very often requiring expense repairs. This research studies the problem of the lateral vibrations produced by the pedestrian crossing in footbridges by means of mathematical models presently used in the technical literature, and its comparison with actual results of the measurement and analysis of the lateral vibration of a footbridge adjacent to the “Rayitos del Sol” footbridge that crosses the Rímac river next to the centre of Lima. This particular footbridge presented excessive lateral vibrations since its construction in 2006 until the time this thesis was developed in 2016. This particular situation constituted an ideal set up for the experimental work developed as part of this thesis, since it allowed to test and give support to some of the theories and models analyzed in this thesis.
