This thesis presents a solution proposal for the sub-transmission expansion planning problem, establishing a novel mathematical model that allows a multistage planning, considering within its formulation the calculation of technical losses of active power and the redesign and repowering of existing and added transmission elements. The formulation of this model is based on a disjunctive DC model, which also introduces three sets of constraints linked to the mentioned criteria. A case study is made on a real electrical system existing in Lima, achieving a flexible expansion plan, which improves its economic and technical efficiency. This proposal is an alternative method, similar to that of real options, which helps optimize public and/or private investments in the expansion of sub-transmission systems.
