The nanoparticles doped with the lanthanide ions were characterized optically and structu- rally through various spectroscopic techniques. The absorption, emission spectra assigned to the observed transitions were obtained as a result. The phenomenon of upconversion has been stu- died, which through excitation with low energy phonons (980 nm laser) generates higher energy photons emission (in the visible). The analysis of the spectroscopic properties of absorption and emission in the infrared of the luminescent nanoparticles is sought by means of the technique called image spectroscopy. This consists of the simultaneous measurement of the optical components of the spectrum of the phenomenon of light-matter interaction that is being considered at each moment (absorption, reflection, relaxation, etc.) and the spatial location of it.
