In this thesis we try to explain, from a geomechanical point of view, the procedures that have been followed to find alternatives for the location of a new shaft in the Yauricocha mine. The type of exploitation method “Sublevel Caving“ that is currently applied in the mine generates disturbance in the rock mass surrounding the area where the exploitation is carried out, mainly in the upper part of it, hence the importance of strategically defining a correct location of the new shaft so that it does not see its stability compromised in time or up to the projected level of mining. In this case, the evaluation is carried out in 2012, so the information cited refers to that year, and the results obtained that were proposed may have been subject to future changes. In this sense, the contribution of the thesis provides us with a guide to follow for the geomechanical evaluation of a rock mass associated with the influence of mining by subsidence type SLC.
