The objective of the present Thesis was to obtain for the author the title of Geological Engineer of the School of Geology of the National Engineering University. This research project has developed a 3D static model which uses all geological information and seismic available from Valencia-Nueva Esperanza Field – Block 8, Marañon Basin. The software used to develop the 3D static model was PETREL® of Schlumberger Company. Valencia-Nueva Esperanza field is located in Block 8, was discovered by Petroperú in April 1975 with the drilling of VALE-25X well and since 1996 is operated by Pluspetrol Norte S.A., has been inactive since November 2005 due to low oil production and high water production. The productive reservoirs are Lower Cetico – 43.7° API and Vivian 45.5° API. The calculation of volume of original oil in place using 3D static model is 30% higher (7 MMBO) than previous evaluations that used volumetric method, this result indicates that the field has development opportunities. Seven locations for new wells are recommended to develop the field.
