The present research project has been made and developed based on experimental tests which allow determining parameters for a suitable granulometry using a mill of 21x24 cm and with a 13 kg load in balls. The adequate granulometry obtained through laboratory test show us that mineral in flotation test has a higher degree of release and thus to obtain more copper (Cu) and gold (Au) in the concentrate (see table N° 20) in comparison to results from previous studies. To achieve a good concentrate it is important to have a good particle size and a good combination of reagents and operating conditions in the sub stages: Rougher and Scavenger. The flotation process also involves two sub-stages, the first one to obtain a concentrate of the mineral part which is sulfided, and the second one performs a flotation process with different parameters to the previous one to obtain a concentrate of the oxidized mineral part. The reagents used for testing of this research project are: Potassium amyl Xanthate (Z6), A-404, A-3418, A-3302, DT-434, LS22, MIBC, Na2CO3, Na2S. Therefore, this research project will investigate and evaluate parameters to obtain a better Copper and Gold recovery as a proposal for oxidized minerals with high iron, carbonates, refractories, etc contents which make typical recovery schemes ineffective. In order to find the best engineering solutions to the different raised troubles in grinding and flotation process, we have: samples of the oxidized mineral containing copper and gold, reagents, laboratories, and historical data from flotation operational conditions. Therefore, it is necessary that by means of physical and / or chemical processes, mineral from oxidized sources be treated in a special way in order to improve the conventional recovery of copper and gold. Finally, with grinding and flotation parameters obtained by experiment, process is optimized and consequently it is obtained more copper and gold recovery compared to typical recovery schemes.
