The thesis project includes the derivation of the Piaxtla river in the area known as La Herradura, with the purpose of developing the Tepetate Herradura deposit Project (DTH), located 2 km southwest of the center of Tayoltita, between the limits of The states of Sinaloa and Durango, in central western Mexico. The derivation of the Piaxtla river implies to construct a channel of derivation of approximately 150 m of length, with a height of cut of the slope of 120 m for the right margin and of 72 m for the left margin. To develop the project, the study was oriented to the execution of basic researches, to obtain the geological and structural characterization of the study area, based on the geological mapping of rock outcrops and records of cores of diamond drillings, later the geotechnical investigations, which allowed to evaluate the main factors of the stability control, and to estimate the basic geotechnical parameters, whith the geomechanical characterization was achieved. This characterization, integrated the information obtained during the basic investigations and geotechnical, Then, it was obtained the geomechanical zoning of the rock mass, of the slope court, determining 4 structural domains that bring together structural and mechanical characteristics. Finally, in order to evaluate the stability conditions of the beads, they deviate from the design of the final project, applying the methodologies and the numerical methods for their design.
