This thesis is the application of standard Project Management Institute (PMI) in the management of a project of deep foundations of a building. During the implementation of projects of deep foundations, there are often problems during scoping, resulting in a lack of compliance with the agreed dates. In the company formats project management suggested by the PMI are applied, but it has 50% of the total suggested formats so there was the need to update the guide project management and include areas of knowledge not considered and demonstrate that by applying PMBOK we can increase the likelihood of success of a project of deep foundations. The solution to this problem of lack of scoping, increased time and costs that can exist in a project of deep foundations, was to apply the standard PMI (PMBOK Guide - 5th Version) to a real project that the company had awarded. For it modify formats existing projects management according to the new version of the PMBOK and implement the use of 7 areas of knowledge that was not taken into consideration. The main results provided this thesis is that by applying the PMI standard to a project of deep foundations is possible to obtain a relative effectiveness of 57%, to demonstrate an absolute effectiveness should make a greater number of projects managed by the standard PMBOK and make a comparison between them.
