This thesis proposes a mathematical model of the transesterification reaction of castor oil ( Ricinus communis ) with methanol and sodium hydroxide as a catalyst for the production of biodiesel from this oil. Possible reactions occurring via a transesterification reaction mechanism of a vegetable oil with an alcohol using a basic catalyst to obtain an expression of the reaction rate. The first part of the work of castor oil seeds from northern Peru was obtained, castor oil was characterized to proceed to the production of biodiesel through a homogeneous base catalysis reaction. To study the transesterification reaction of castor oil is varied: temperature, degree of agitation, the catalyst concentration and the ratio methanol / oil.
