This thesis has been developed within a research project carried out by researchers at the National University of Engineering (UNI) Peru and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. The study aimed to verify the use of pozzolana in the production of mortar and concrete and manufacturing building components as a solution to the urgent need for housing in developing countries. Government programs fail to meet even the growth of the deficit and the technological solutions are not economically accessible to the most disadvantaged groups. To that purpose it was identified samples which were characterized, test different dosages of mixtures, preparing test samples with addition of different percentages of pozzolana, which were subjected to mechanical tests under technical standards. The results obtained show that ash from husk of rice (CCA) is an artificial pozzolana which can replace advantageously a percentage of cement in the production of components and mortars for the construction of low-cost housing.
