Research is performed in “San Juan de Marcona Mining Setting-up” which is located 540 kilometers to the south of Lima city approximately, belongs to Nazca town in department of Ica. Land is used, basically, by San Juan de Marcona´s population and SHP mining installations. Because of weather conditions and the lack of drinking water, soil is not adequate for agriculture. For this reason, it is classified as unused and unproductive land which has a great potential for developing mining and other industries, with a technical limitation on the fresh water shortages that can be solved. Fresh water is used for human consume, seawater for processing mineral and mitigation dust, and finally desalinated water is used for the partial washing of mineral in order to reduce chlorides. Marcona's coastline has an extension of 102.4 Km and has been affected by mining activities and tailings discharged into the sea for over 40 years mainly by MMC. This effect has caused the formation of artificial beaches and the disappearance of natural beaches. Besides, landscapes with different colors show environmental liabilities of tailings environmental impact. In order to identify the environmental impacts, the production process includes the steps since drilling until, sampling system and shipment. Corporate Social Responsibility is given by the voluntary contributions of the Civil Association of Iron and Development Progress that benefit Ica’s department and influenced zones such as Lomas, Bella Union and Acari. Finally analyze solutions of main enviromental problems of San Juan de Marcona Mining Complex and research lines.
