Both the excessive use and the low use of antibiotics are two of the problems that contribute most to the appearance of bacterial resistance; for this reason, the OBJECTIVE of this study to evaluate the antibiotic therapy in the prevalent diseases in hospitalized patients of the gynecology service of the Regional Maternal and Child Teaching Hospital El Carmen. Using as METHODOLOGY the descriptive, prospective and transversal study, of basic level; applying a questionnaire in a SAMPLE 208 patients and with RESULTS, that the sample investigated was distributed between the ages of 20 to 25 years (22%) predominantly, followed by 41 to 50 years (28%), than the most frequent gynecological infectious diseases were pelvic inflammation (18%), followed by uterine myoma (14%) and urinary infection problems (13%) and the most used antibiotics were. cefazolin in about half of women (46%), of therapeutic cephalosporin groups (56%), followed by lincosamines (26%). Being the CONCLUSIONS that the prescription of antibiotic therapy granted in the consultation of hospitalized patients of Gynecology fulfilled according to the Clinical Guide (100%).
