Plants are a resource that nature offers us and that contain principles assets that can be used to cure various diseases or ailments. The affections of the skin and mucous membranes are diseases or injuries caused by external factors (injuries) or internal (pathological anatomy), which require a proper medical treatment. The objective of the present investigation is to determine which medicinal plants used as an alternative treatment for skin and mucous residents of the Pucará - Huancayo neighborhood; likewise, the descriptive method was applied, whose type of research is basic. As a result of the research carried out, the following information was obtained: The medicinal plants used for affections of the skin and mucous membranes are: burdock or burdock, pansy, wild rose or rose hip, red rose, violet, lavender, chamomile, oregano, rosemary, thyme and carrot; likewise, the plants before mentioned, are used to treat the following diseases or skin ailments and mucous membranes: papule, macula, vesicle, pustule, nodule, scabs, ulcer, scar, atrophy, erythema, thrush, herpes simplex and herpes zoster, pemphigus, lichen, erythema exudative multiform, acne and allergic contact dermatitis; likewise, 79% of the inhabitants if they know the proper use of medicinal plants used as an alternative treatment in skin and mucosal conditions, and 99% of the population responded that the proper use of medicinal plants would be an alternative treatment for reduce costs and problems related to the medicine.
