The objective of the research is to evaluate adherence to pharmacological treatment in older adults with type II diabetes mellitus at the Chilca Health Center. The method of this research was descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional, and consisted of a purposive sample of 50 users. The results indicate that 76% of the users sometimes forget to take their medicines when they should take them more than once a day, 52% forget to take their medicines and stop taking their medicines when they feel sick; the factors that influence non-adherence to treatment are the knowledge of the undesired effects in 84% and forgetting the dose in 52%. It is concluded that sometimes there is no adherence to pharmacological treatment in the elderly, where 44% are over 66 years of age.
