The objective was to determine the relationship between risk factors and premature rupture of membranes in pregnant women, the methodology was relational type, retrospective, with correlational design; the population was 1008 clinical histories of pregnant mothers. The result was that the MPR is significantly associated to the presence of vaginal discharge in 23.1%, the Urinary Tract Infection in 22.6%, the history of PROM in 20.2%, gestational anemia in 17.3% and finally the number of prenatal controls in 22.6% of pregnant women who presented premature rupture of membranes, it was concluded that the presence of PROM is significantly associated to the factors of presence of vaginal discharge, urinary tract infection, history of PROM, gestational anemia and prenatal care (P≤0.01).
