Annona muricata L. (soursop) is one of the plants that are widely used due to its diverse benefits. The objective of the research was to determine the antioxidant activity and to evaluate the preliminary content of secondary metabolites in the ethanolic extract of Annona muricata L. "guanábana" leaves. The plant species was collected from the Perico Community and subsequently taxonomically classified. The ethanolic extract was obtained by maceration from 180 g of dry plant material, in addition; the recognition of secondary metabolites was performed through phytochemical screening by collocation reaction and precipitation. Antioxidant activity was evaluated by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH) assay. In the results, an extraction yield of 7.1% was found from the dried plant material of Annona muricata L. "guanábana" leaves; among the metabolites present in the extract, the presence of phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins was highlighted.
