This study seeks to identify the physical changes that alginate impressions undergo once they are removed from the mouth. An experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional, descriptive study design was used as a method. Convenience sampling was applied, and 30 study models were selected. The data collected showed different measurements between each group, according to the conservation temperature. The analysis showed that the samples conserved in a warm environment underwent physical changes and contracted due to water loss through evaporation, thus explaining the dimensional change of the impression material. The evidence presented shows that the group evaluated in a warmer environment (30° C) tends to undergo higher dimensional changes in its structure, which is why it tends to undergo the physical effect called SYNERESIS.
