The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the consumption of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and gastrointestinal disorders in an adult population that frequents a chain of drugstores in the District of San Martin de Porres - Lima. The methodology of the research was of a prospective applied type, descriptive level and non-experimental correlational design; carried out on a sample of 108 adults. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The results showed that 75% of the study sample consumed NSAIDs frequently; the most frequently used NSAIDs were Ibuprofen (37%) and Naproxen (36%), which cause adverse effects at the gastrointestinal level such as heartburn in 54%, diarrhea in 38%, vomiting-nausea in 23% and constipation in 15%. Heartburn was the most common adverse effect in the population studied. The study concluded that there is a relationship between the consumption of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and gastrointestinal disorders in the adult population who frequent a chain of drugstores in the District of San Martin de Porres - Lima
