The aim of this study was to demonstrate the antifungal effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Thymus vulgaris (thyme) compared to nystatin against Candida albicans. A prospective cross-sectional study was used, and an experimental design with control groups was applied. A sample of 2 kg of leaves was considered to obtain the hydroalcoholic extract by maceration. The antifungal effect was demonstrated using the microbiological technique of well diffusion. The results showed that at 50% it obtained inhibition halos of 20.88 mm; at 75% of 22.81 mm; at 100% it was 24.35 mm; the negative control (ethanol) presented inhibition halos of 6.41 mm and the positive control (nystatin). Antimycotic effect was demonstrated in the hydroalcoholic extracts of Thymus vulgaris (thyme) at concentrations of 50%, 75% and 100%, this effect being greater in nystatin against Candida albicans.
