According to the World Health Organization (WHO) One third of the world's population, especially poor countries, still do not have access to essential medicines, while the populations of rich countries consume about 80% of the medicines produced in the world, in rich countries, "more than 70% of pharmaceutical preparations are publicly funded" while, in developing countries, patients pay between 50 and 90% of medicines to access them. To improve access to medicines, generics represent a good alternative, since they are economically more affordable and their availability in the market is increasing
