The present investigation titled: Level of self-esteem and the type of family of the students of the second and third semester of the Professional School of Nursing of the Private University of Huancayo "Franklin Roosevelt" - Huancayo 2016 had like objective determine the relation between the level of self-esteem and type of family. The research method was scientific, the type of basic research, the correlation level, non-experimental and cross-sectional design. The technique used was the survey and two instruments were applied, which were 2 questionnaires (the first was the Self-esteem Scale). Modified by Stanley Coopersmith and the second was the Evaluation Scale: Type of Family), with a sample of 34 nursing students from the UPHFR; analyzing the data. The results show that the majority of students in the second and third semesters of the Professional School of Nursing of the UPHFR have a high self-esteem (44%) and that the majority of students in the second and third semesters of the Professional Nursing School of the UPHFR have a family of functional type (68%). Concluding that there is a significant relationship between the level of self-esteem and the type of family
