This research work deals with the influence that digital tools have on academic performance. For this purpose, it has four specific objectives, which are to analyze the students' handling of digital tools, to recognize the negative and positive mastery of these tools, and to analyze the students' grades in different areas outside the context of virtual education. This is a quantitative descriptive research of correlational type in terms of methodology and also in terms of data collection in which 66 primary school students (F=33 /M=33) from a private institution in northern Lima (Peru) participated under a purposive sampling. The results showed that digital tools are related to academic performance in a positive or negative way, since a group of students did not take enough interest in using these tools to their advantage because they were already familiar with them; while another percentage of students were distracted because they already came from a virtual context and made use of digital tools. Finally, the academic performance is not directly related to the digital tools, since the students have been approved in the Social Personal, Mathematics, Communication and Science and Technology courses.
