The objective of the research was to determine the risk of type 2 diabetes (DM2) in patients attending the medical office at the Mesa Redonda Health Post in San Martín de Porres, 2023. Additionally, this is a quantitative approach research with a non-experimental, descriptive, and cross-sectional design and a sample of 184 individuals. The applied technique was the survey employing the FINDRISC. The results highlight that 50% of the respondents are at moderate risk of developing type 2 diabetes (DM2), and then 37.5% are at high risk. Concerning age, 58.2% are younger than 45 years old; in terms of BMI, 37% are overweight, and 24.5% are obese; in waist anthropometry, 35.9% of males have a waist circumference greater than 102 cm, and more than 88 cm for females, followed by 34.2% of males with waist measurements between 94 and 102 cm, and females between 80 and 88 cm; in the dimension of physical activity, 36.4% do not engage in it; regarding the consumption of vegetables and fruits, 36.4% do not consume them daily; in terms of medication for high blood pressure, 15.2% use some antihypertensive medication; in blood glucose levels, it is observed that 25% had hyperglycemia; regarding family history of diabetes, 23.4% have a family history in grandparents, uncles, cousins, or siblings, and 20.1% had a family history from their parents, siblings, or children. It is concluded that 50% of the studied sample has a moderate risk, and 37.5% has a high risk of developing DM2. It shows the current issue faced in the country and the rest of the world, where DM2 is becoming an increasing public health problem. Therefore, various preventive and promotional strategies based on healthy lifestyles should be implemented to prevent individuals at risk develop DM2 in the future.
