Nivel de empatía en enfermeras del Hospital San José, Callao - 2020

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de empatía en enfermeros del Hospital San José, Callao – 2020. Material y Método: El estudio siguió la ruta cuantitativa, diseño no experimental, descriptivo y corte transversal con una población constituida por 105 enfermeros. La técnica aplicada para la recogida de información fue la encuesta y el instrumento utilizado fue la Escala de Empatía Médica de Jefferson (EEMJ), que consta de 20 ítems y 3 dimensiones. Resultados: Respecto a la empatía en enfermeros, prevaleció el nivel medio con 81,0% (n=85), seguido del alto con 16,2% (n=17) y nivel bajo con 2,9% (n=3). En cuanto las dimensiones; en toma de perspectiva, prevaleció el nivel alto con 87,6% (n=92); en cuidado con compasión, prevaleció el nivel bajo con 70,5% (n=74) y en capacidad para ponerse en el lugar del paciente prevaleció el nivel medio con 49,5% (n=52). Conclusiones: En lo referente a la empatía prevaleció el nivel medio, seguido del nivel alto y finalmente, nivel bajo. En toma de perspectiva prevaleció el nivel alto; en cuidado con compasión prevaleció el nivel bajo y en la capacidad para ponerse en el lugar del paciente prevaleció el nivel medio.

Objective: To determine the level of empathy in nurses at the Hospital San José, Callao - 2020. Material and Method: The study followed the quantitative route, with a non-experimental, descriptive and cross-sectional design, whose population consists of 105 nurses. The applied technique to collect information was the survey and the instrument used for this research was The Jefferson Scale of Empathy (JSE), which has 20 items and 3 dimensions. Results: Regarding empathy in nurses, the medium level prevailed with 81.0% (n=85), followed by the high level with 16.2% (n=17) and the low level with 2.9% (n=3). Concerning the dimensions, the high level prevailed in perspective taking with 87.6% (n=92), the low level prevailed in compassionate care with 70.5% (n=74) and the medium level prevailed in the ability to put oneself in the patient's place with 49.5% (n=52). Conclusions: Regarding empathy, the medium level prevailed, followed by the high level and the low level. In perspective taking, the high level prevailed; in care with compassion, the low level prevailed and in the ability to put oneself in the patient's place, the medium level prevailed.
