Objective: To determine the practices of preventive measures on iron deficiency anemia carried out by mothers of children 6 to 24 months old in the Northern Cone, 2021. Materials and methods: This is quantitative approach study, with a crosssectional/ descriptive design. 129 mothers of children who attend the CRED office participated in this research. The technique used for this investigation was a survey and a measurement instrument that consists of 21 questions regarding preventive measures and 5 questions about sociodemographic characteristics. Results: Regarding the practices of preventive measures in the participating mothers, 60% (n=78) had adequate practices and 40% (n=51) had inadequate practices. According to the dimensions in feeding practices, 49% (n=63) of the participants followed appropriate feeding practices while 51% (n=66) followed inappropriate practices. In supplementation practices, 68% (n=88) carried out appropriate practices while 32% (n=41) had inappropriate practices. Finally, in hygiene practices, 73% (n=94) carried out adequate hygiene practices while 27% (n=35) had inadequate hygiene practices. Conclusions: Regarding the practices of preventive measures in anemia due to iron deficiency, appropriate practices predominated followed by inadequate ones. Concerning the dimensions, inappropriate practices predominated in feeding and appropriate practices predominated in supplementation and hygiene.
