The objective of the study was to describe the knowledge about the application of the rabies preventive triad among residents of the districts of Metropolitan Lima, the information was collected from the National Survey of Budget Programs 2020. The classification variables were district groupings (North Lima, Central Lima, East Lima, South Lima and Callao) and socioeconomic stratum (A, B, C, D and E), while the study variables were the components of the rabies preventive triad (wash the wound with soap and water, identify the biting animal and go to the health facility). The study found that only 7.2% of the respondents were aware of the three components of the preventive triad, where the most recognized component was ''go to the health center'' (90.2%), followed by ''wash the wound with soap and water'' (49.7%) and ''identify the biting animal'' (26.4%). It was also observed that the lower the socioeconomic stratum, the lower the knowledge of the components of the rabies preventive triad. It is hoped that the results will motivate to reconsider the ways to raise awareness about the rabies virus, as well as to disseminate the ''rabies preventive triad'' among the inhabitants of Metropolitan Lima.
