The objective of this study was to determine the knowledge about dengue of the population who live in the departments of the Peruvian jungle region, according to the results of the 2019 National Budget Program Survey. To do this, descriptive statistics shall be used to summarize the dependent variables, which are the department, location of the home, the gender and the socioeconomic stratum and the independent variables, which are the knowledge of transmission method of the disease, symptoms, actions to be taken in case that these symptoms appear and prevention methods of the disease. These variables were analyzed and presented in frequency tables. It was found that 77.3% of the population know the mechanism of transmission of the virus, while a percentage less than 5% are inclined to other mechanisms. Among the symptoms, the most recognized by the population studied were fever (84.3%) and headache (60.8%). 89.8% of the population knows that they should go to a health center in case of presenting signs related to the disease, but the only preventive action known to more than 50% of the population was the disposal of containers that can accumulate water (55.3%). This study made because Aedes is a vector that is increasing in number and expanding due to global warming, increasing the dengue cases and causing human and economic losses. Therefore, the knowledge of the disease by the inhabitants is a key aspect for the elimination of this disease in our country and whose information dissemination is in charge of the health authorities of the Peruvian state.
