Con la finalidad de probar la duraci?n de la esterilidad de gasas previamente sometidas a la acci?n del horno microondas como m?todo de esterilizaci?n, se evalu? la presencia de microorganismos en gasas esterilizadas durante el transcurso de los d?as mediante los cultivos Macconkey, Nutritivo y Sabouraud, comparando dos materiales de empaque. El estudio se realiz? en el Laboratorio de Microbiolog?a de la Universidad Ricardo Palma, con gasas empaquetadas en papel kraft y papel grado m?dico. Se utilizaron 32 paquetes de gasas sometidos por 60 segundos a las ondas electromagn?ticas de alta frecuencia en un horno microondas de 1000W; los paquetes fueron expuestos en grupos de 2 y se almacenaron en cajas pl?sticas herm?ticas. El mismo d?a se realiz? el lavado y filtrado de las gasas y se sembr? la membrana de filtro en los respectivos agares, continuando con muestreos y siembras de forma interdiaria. En el primer muestreo las gasas presentaron microorganismos f?ngicos Penicililum spp., cuatro d?as tras la exposici?n al horno microondas las gasas envueltas en papel kraft se encontraban contaminadas por bacterias y al noveno d?a tras exposici?n se encontr? contaminaci?n por bacterias en las gasas envueltas con papel grado m?dico, es decir, las gasas envueltas en papel kraft est?n libres de bacterias 2 d?as tras exposici?n y las de papel grado m?dico hasta el s?ptimo d?a. Se concluye que las ondas electromagn?ticas del horno microondas no esterilizan completamente el material estudiado, ya que se encontr? Penicililum spp desde el primer muestreo realizado inmediatamente tras la exposici?n a la acci?n del horno microondas. In order to test the sterility duration of gauzes previously subjected to the action of the microwave oven as a sterilization method, the presence of microorganisms in gauze sterilized during the course of the days was evaluated by Macconkey, Nutritivo and Sabouraud cultures, comparing Two packaging materials. In the first sampling the gauzes presented fungal microorganisms Penicililum spp., Four days after the exposure to the microwave oven the wrappings wrapped in kraft paper were contaminated by bacteria and on the ninth day after exposure bacterial contamination was found in the gauze wrapped with paper grade doctor, that is, the wrappings wrapped in kraft paper are free of bacteria 2 days after exposure and those of medical grade paper until the seventh day. It is concluded that the electromagnetic waves of the microwave oven do not completely sterilize the material studied, since Penicililum spp was found from the first sampling done immediately after exposure to the action of the microwave oven.
