Abstract: En el presente estudio se analiza la tem?tica referida a la Ansiedad y la Depresi?n en alumnos de colegios estatales. Se examina la definici?n y descripci?n del problema desde una mirada amplia, considerando los factores sexo y ciclo. El tipo de muestreo fue no probabil?stico, seleccion?ndose una muestra de 181 estudiantes de colegios estatales (48% varones y 52% mujeres), sus edades oscilaban entre 7 y 12 a?os, se les administro Beck Youth Inventories, el cual contiene cinco escalas que pueden utilizarse por separado o en combinaci?n para evaluar la experiencia de un ni?o de la depresi?n, la ansiedad, la ira, conductas disruptivas y auto concepto. Las escalas miden el estr?s que experimentan los ni?os en asociaci?n con problemas de salud mental. Cada uno de los cinco inventarios contiene 20 ?tems acerca de los pensamientos, sentimientos o comportamientos asociados con el deterioro emocional y social en ni?os y adolescentes. Se demostr? la validez y confiabilidad que result? altamente satisfactoria. Las conclusiones principales fueron: En relaci?n al sexo las mujeres son m?s depresivas que los varones. Con respecto al ciclo se pudo afirmar que a mayor edad se tenga menor nivel de depresi?n y ansiedad. In the present study the national and international literature on anxiety and depression in students of public schools is analyzed. The definition and description of the problem is examined from a broader view, considering the factors sex. The sampling was non-probabilistic, selected a sample of 181 students from state schools (48% male and 52% female), their ages ranged between 7 and 12 years were administered Beck Youth Inventories, which contains five scales that can used separately or in combination to assess a child's experience of depression, anxiety, anger, disruptive behavior and self-concept. The scales measure the stress experienced by children in association with mental health problems. Each of the five inventory contains 20 items about thoughts, feelings or behaviors associated with emotional and social impairment in children and adolescents. It is validity and reliability was demonstrated highly satisfactory. The main findings were: Regarding the sex women are more depressed than men. With respect to the cycle it could say that the older lower levels of depression and anxiety have.
