The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between psychosocial risk factors and the factors associated with the occurrence of work accidents in the mining sector, as well as to identify possible differences depending on the reasons for the accident. A quantitative approach is used with a correlational and comparative design. The sample is 138 workers from mining companies in Peru, with an average age of 39 years. The ISTAS21 Psychosocial Risk Manual and the Structured Interview for Workplace Accidents designed by Bakovic (2014) are used as data collection instruments. According to the results, it is identified that the dimension of psychological demands is only associated with the dimension of stress in a positive way. Furthermore, the dimension of active work and skill development and social support in the company is negatively associated with fatigue and positively with the safety climate and the safety performance dimension. It is also found that the compensation dimension is positively associated with the safety climate dimension. Likewise, the compensation dimension and the dual presence dimension are positively related to safety performance and the stress dimension. It is concluded that psychosocial factors are associated with the factors of occurrence of occupational accidents, especially in the dimensions related to safety climate, safety performance, fatigue and stress.
