More than half of women have experienced violence within a relationship. This vulnerability is increased by gender inequality and the difficulties they face in being independent both economically and in decision-making. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the perception of dating violence and sexism in university students who are currently in a romantic relationship in Metropolitan Lima. The methodology was simple correlational. The sample was made up of 255 students, of which 46.7% were men and 53.3% women. For the study, the Dating Violence Questionnaire (Rodríguez-Díaz et al., 2017) and the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory (Manrique Tapia & Muñoz Buratovich, 2020) were used. The results demonstrated that the perception of violence between boyfriends has a positive and statistically significant relationship with hostile sexism. However, a positive but non-significant relationship was obtained with benevolent sexism. These results offer insight into how students with sexist attitudes perceive relationship violence and provide a theoretical basis for prevention and intervention in vulnerable communities.
