The present investigation is descriptive of simple design and aims at describing the critical thinking of the fifth grade students of Carmen de la Legua schools. The sample was made of 226 people whose ages ranked 14 -17 years. We use the test for critical thinking elaborated for this investigation. The results show that most of the students of the sample reach an average level of critical thinking. Most of the students rated an average level in the dimensions analyzes information and makes inferences while in the dimension proposes alternatives and arguments position, most of them rated low level. Gender does not constitute a factor for significant differences of critical thinking. Nevertheless, we did find differences according to the schools management for students of religious schools rate, the private schools show slight advantage over public schools. (en)
