Children are in constant development, self-esteem is an important concept for the middle childhood stage, therefore, it is impossible to stop studying it in the educational field. The present investigation had the purpose of measuring the level of self-esteem in students who belong to a particular educational institution, San José-Lambayeque, to determine their level in the personal, family, academic and social dimensions, as well as to determine the level of the same according to sex, age and identify the sociodemographic factors that influence it. The study was non-experimental and descriptive. The sample consisted of students of the IV and V cycle of regular basic education of a private school in the district of San José, who were evaluated with the Coopersmith inventory school version that consists of 58 items, after which the data was analyzed and they were grouped according to sex and age, as well as the sociodemographic data that intervene in the development of self-esteem were identified. The results obtained were that students more frequently present self-esteem at an average level, less frequently in the personal dimension. It is concluded that the level of self-esteem in the population that was studied is at an average level, with a low level of self-esteem in the personal dimension, with a higher frequency of average self-esteem in men and in children from 8 to 9 years of age, in the same way There are sociodemographic factors that influence an adequate level of self-esteem, such as parental education, socioeconomic level, authority figure at home, number of siblings, and type of family.
