Tourism is an increasingly relevant and competitive sector, which motivates this research to examine how the image of the destination and travel motivation influence the behavior of tourists who visit Chachapoyas, both in their level of general satisfaction and in their loyalty to destiny. A structural equation modeling approach was used, based on 370 surveys collected. To analyze the results, Confirmatory Factor Analysis was applied to identify the indicators grouped within the same dimension for both destination image and travel motivation. Likewise, the maximum likelihood method was used in Confirmatory Factor Analysis to perform a multivariate analysis of the dependencies. Additionally, structural equation modeling through AMOS was used to explore and present the proposed relationships. The findings reveal the critical importance of destination image in shaping tourist satisfaction and their likelihood of repeating the visit or recommending the destination to others. However, while travel motivation contributes significantly to the formation of destination image, a clear relationship with tourist satisfaction is not evident, thus underlining the need to develop new segments of tourism services. Finally, it is highlighted that satisfaction with the destination plays a fundamental role in the tourist's loyalty towards the destination, influencing their future return and recommendation decisions.
