The salivary pH is very important for the conservation of the oral health, this is why it is recommended to keep it stable; many factors can modify it, one of them is the overweight that has been increased, particularly in children and adolescent population which constitute a public health problem; which is preceded by an excessive energy consumption and a low energy, very related to the excessive consumption of fats and sugars that generates modifications as acidity in the salivary pH.The present study had as objective to establish the difference in the salivary pH in students with normoweight and overweight, the obtaining of the weight and height was using a scale and a stadiometer. BMI was classified according to the classification table provided by the OMS 2007. Of a population of 95, it was selected 45 students of 6, 7 and 8 years of both sexes in the I.E. Particular Robert Gagne from the district of Moquegua, the saliva sample was received and and the salivary was measured, using pH meter Checker with replaceable electrode, pH meter HANNA Instruments model HI 98103, USA. The recorded data were subjected to a statistical analysis, it works with a level of significance of 5%, when applying the student's T test for independent samples were found significant differences (p valor = 0.000), in students with overweight a salivary pH acid, on average 6.55 with CI95% 6.31 to 6.78 and in students with normoweight a salivary pH optimum with an average of 7.13 and CI95% of 6.93 to 7.33. It is concluded that to the age of 6, 7, and 8 years there are differences in the salivary pH in both types of students. However the interior of the students with normoweight and overweight, the salivary pH 6, 7 and 8 years does not present differences (Anova; valor de p = 0.582 y p= 0.319 respectively). So the age in each group of students does not modify the salivary pH.
