Abstract: Antecedentes: La prematuridad es la principal causa de morbilidad perinatal, constituyendo actualmente uno de los problemas de salud pública.
Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia y los factores maternos, asociados al parto pretérmino en pacientes atendidas en el Hospital San Juan de Dios de Pisco en el periodo Enero 2008a Junio 2013.
Pacientes y métodos: Es un estudio transversal, analítico, retrospectivo, con diseño de casos y controles; cuya población se constituyó por todas las pacientes con gestación que culminó en parto de recién nacido vivo pretérmino; tal cifra fue de 383, de acuerdo a los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, se obtuvo 292 casos aptos, y se seleccionó 292 controles.
Conclusiones: La prevalencia de parto pretérmino fue de un 3.35%.
Los factores de riesgo maternos asociados al parto pretérmino fueron: Infección urinaria, antecedente de parto prematuro anterior, antecedente de aborto, edad materna <18 años, diabetes gestacional, vaginosis bacteriana, ruptura prematura de membranas, grado de instrucción de educación primaria.
La edad comprendida entre 18-34 años, el grado de nivel secundario y superior, se comportaron como factores protectores para el parto pretérmino.

Background: Prematurity does the leading cause of perinatal morbidity now constitute one of the public health problems. Objective: To determine the prevalence and maternal factors associated with preterm delivery in patients treated at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pisco in the period January 2008 a June 2013. Patients and Methods: A cross-sectional, analytical, retrospective study with case-control design, whose population is established for all patients with pregnancy that ended in live birth preterm newborn, this figure was 383, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 292 cases fit was obtained, and 292 controls were selected. Conclusions: The prevalence of preterm delivery was of 3.35%. Maternal risk factors associated with preterm delivery were: urinary tract infection, history of previous preterm birth, history of abortion, maternal age <18 years, gestational diabetes, bacterial vaginosis, premature rupture of membranes, degree of instruction for primary education.
