En la presente investigación se trató el tema del derecho al honor de los políticos o funcionarios públicos como límite al derecho a la libertad de expresión de los caricaturistas. Al respecto, es común ver muchos dibujos difundidos por artistas que son cuestionados por el uso de determinadas formas, expresiones o mensajes que, lejos de transmitir una opinión crítica, parecen únicamente estar dirigidas a humillar al aludido, haciendo alusión a su aspecto, intimidad, familiar, entre otras cuestiones. Así, basándose en un enfoque cualitativo, se recabó información de distintas fuentes jurisprudenciales y doctrinales para poder establecer las bases teóricas de la investigación. En ese sentido, se buscó aplicar los contenidos obtenidos dentro del contexto nacional, con el fin de poder distinguir de una manera práctica los alcances de los derechos en conflicto. Finalmente, se determinó que la libertad de expresión artística no es un derecho ilimitado, sino que, como todo derecho fundamental, está sometido a límites, los cuales entran a garantizar el libre desarrollo de todos los ciudadanos.
