The knowledge society has generated technological, economic, educational, social, political and cultural changes. These changes require developing new skills and knowledge, such as digital competence. Being digitally competent brings many opportunities, otherwise we face serious problems such as the digital and cognitive gap. In the educational field, it is also important to know how to use technologies for pedagogical purposes, since studies show that they are an important complement in the training and development of future teachers and students. Therefore, this study answers the question: What is the level of Digital Competence in the students of the Education career of a private university in Metropolitan Lima? This will make it possible to offer evidence on the levels of Digital Competence in the students of the Education career, facilitating the identification of which factors are a strength or the possibility of improvement in the education of future teachers. The research has a quantitative and descriptive methodological design. The information was collected through a questionnaire previously validated and subjected to internal reliability tests composed of 56 items distributed in five factors (Technological literacy, Access and use of information, Communication and collaboration, Digital citizenship and Creativity and Innovation). Among the results obtained, it is highlighted that students positively value that teachers integrate the use of ICT in their field of study. In relation to Digital Citizenship, the majority considered it important to promote the safe, legal and responsible use of information, but they showed less interest in understanding the digital label to develop responsible social interactions. The factor that students value the most is Creativity and Innovation and secondly Digital Citizenship.
