The objective of this research was to describe the characteristics that Peruvian leaders who telework in the context of COVID-19 should have according to the expectations of their teams. In particular, it is important to study the characteristics that are needed in a leader in crisis situations such as the context of COVID-19, given that this pandemic has caused a loss of wellbeing in Peruvian teleworkers, who need the leader in this context of uncertainty. The research method proposed was qualitative and the information analysis was carried out from the approaches of grounded theory, which allowed identifying, through interviews, a set of characteristics that describe ideal leaders in five categories: charismatic and personable, recognizes and commits to his team, vision and direction, guides and accompanies his team and develops his team. These results show the need to implement changes in current leadership styles. Based on this study, it was found that the best way to go through the changes that this context brings is by listening and recognizing the needs of the workers. Therefore, the leader plays a fundamental role in listening and supporting his team, while providing calm, tranquility and a new path to his team and his organization.
