In the present text, an analysis and description of the artistic proposals of photography and sound behind the short film “The Best Mom in the World,“ directed by Valeria Rengifo, will be carried out. The objective of the text is to detail and explain a series of artistic decisions made during the pre-production, production, and post-production of said short film, particularly from the areas of Photography and Sound. The four members of this group, authors of this text, belong to these two areas of the project. Thus, Junior Camacho and Briana Bailly are part of the photography team, with the former being the Director of the department, and Ronaldo Cabrera and Sergio Peña are part of the sound department, which is co-directed by both. Both areas serve the story told in the short film, which deals with a mother who, as a victim of domestic abuse by her ex-husband, hides the scars of this violence so that her six-year-old daughter does not realize the reality and can maintain her innocence. Based on the problematic theme addressed in the short film, both areas have focused on representing it realistically, prioritizing the creation of believable and subtly nuanced atmospheres that approach this topic with respect and without succumbing to the extremes of sensationalism. Thus, in this text, the process by which these atmospheres were designed and carried out will be developed, from their audiovisual references to the intentions and proposals made by both areas
